Pandemonium strikes at an American military air base, as the Prankster’s evil plot that started in last issue, continues. As Batman and Superman arrive at his underground hideout, they notice that his accomplice, Mr Freeze may have gotten into a fight. And just moments later, Prankster revels his own suit of armour and begins to combat the two heroes. While fighting, Prankster tells them what happened to Mr Freeze, and how he is using him to freeze all of Metropolis. Batman goes after him alone. Back at the Leviathan, both Nightwing and Lois are there and the intruders from last issue begin their assault. In the city, Green Arrow does what he can to stop Mr. Freeze, but it’s not enough. Nightwing and Lois however pull through, and Superman narrowly beats Loomis, who reveals to the last son of Krypton, how he used the air base to commandeer two unmanned planes to bomb the Leviathan….. To be continued…
This issue has yet again another new artist, who doesn’t really help the book, and his best drawn page is the last one. I feel for a book with Batman, the overall feel of the book should be darker, and typically not as bright even if we’re in Metropolis. But trust me guys, the art gets better in the next arc.
The story is very reflective of something The Joker would do to the order Batman goes out to create. I think the Prankster was used just because they/he couldn’t use The Joker. None of Superman’s villains are utilized but it’s not a bad thing, it’s just for this story. It seems like it would be better suited had The Joker been used where another version of Superman’s rouges were used. Or a super type like Clayface to give everyone a chance to really use their strengths…
