21 and Over Movie Review

What happens when you combine Project X, The Hangover, and Old School? You get a young adult Hangover/Project X/Old School movie.

Directors: Jon LucasScott Moore  (also wrote the film.) Runtime: 93mins

I didn’t know a thing about this movie, other than it sounded boring, and for the most part it is. Largely because it was unrelated to me, nor did I have any reason to really care about these characters. These movies are so typical. I believe that this film is made by the same people who brought you The Hangover and Old School, which if so, they’re becoming like the writer of Training Day, and Tyler Perry. Very one dimensional with what they’re producing.

Maybe it’s the stage of my life right now, but I’m not really into these movies anymore. But, I still gave it a chance, which I shouldn’t have. I may have laughed maybe 10 times. That may seem like a lot, but for a movie that runs just under two hours, it’s not.

This movie has poor acting that I thought I would only see in an American Pie “direct to dvd”. Miles Teller was basically acting like Vince Vaughan, so unless that’s a certain acting skill, then by all means. Skip a few oddly funny/typical pranks and scenarios, you get a slightly forced moral of the story at the end, and then you get something very similar to the last Lord of the Rings movie. It just doesn’t want to end.

Bottom line, it’s funny but, I don’t encourage anyone to watch to watch it. Unless however you’re a wacky tabacy smoker or in the same age group as the title implies, otherwise this just isn’t for you.

  • Overall rating of the movie: 2 out of 5,
  • Cinematography: 0 out of 5,
  • Editing: 3 out of 5,
  • Audio: 3 out of 5,
  • Acting: 1.5 out of 5,
  • Theatres or wait for the blu-ray?  SKIP IT ENTIRELY.

For your viewing pleasure Hangover III

THAT’S IT! Cheers: “To Peace” and May the Force be with you!
