Video of the Day: Thor: The Dark World

THOR-DARK-WORLD-POSTERThor is coming and it’s fitting that its Thorsday (ask the vikings). its short and sweet and really does expand on the world that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has built with the first Thor movie and some of  “Captain America: The First Avenger”. This looks promising and even more action packed than the first one. i wont give anything away, I’m too busy being amp’d for Iron Man 3. P.s, gotta love in the poster, Thor’s hair seems to be staying still in all that wind.

Star Trek Into Darkness helmer J.J. Abrams will direct Star Wars: Episode VII for Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm, reports TheWrap. The site says that Ben Affleck was also in contention.

Back in November, Abrams commented on the possibility of him directing and it sounded like it wasn’t happening:

“Look, Star Wars is one of my favorite movies of all time. I frankly feel that – I almost feel that, in a weird way, the opportunity for whomever it is to direct that movie, it comes with the burden of being that kind of iconic movie and series. I was never a big Star Trek fan growing up, so for me, working on Star Trek didn’t have any of that, you know, almost fatal sacrilege, and so, I am looking forward more then anyone to the next iterations of Star Wars, but I believe I will be going as a paying moviegoer!”

TheWrap adds that Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy has been courting Abrams for the director’s chair for a while.

Sta r Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to hit theaters in 2015. Michael Arndt is writing the script.

Smallville Season 11 #19

smallville-19Winslow Schott gets a reporter visit from Lois who wants to understand the connection between him and Loomis (aka the Prankster). He informs Lois that he (Loomis) is the Salieri to his Mozart, while they were at Queen Industries. Meanwhile, at the suicide slums of metropolis, Batman and Superman engage Mr. Freeze and Prankster by causing the roof to separate the group. Batman tries to figure out why Mr. Freeze is working as a gun for hire. Loomis then explains that he was on the outs with Intergang so he had hoped to take down the Batman, Superman is just a bonus. With a new mag in his gun, Loomis shoots homing bullets. Superman tries to stop them but isn’t able to, and he yells for Batman who took leave with Joe Chill. Batman uses flares to get out of impending danger. Loomis keeps Superman engaged in conversation as he changes clips (Schott had always used meter rocks in his deadly gadgets, and Loomis, being a copy cat….) he shoots a few off. Clark…… smallville-019-20 meanwhile as the dust settles by Batman, he sees Mr. Freeze through the dust, Freeze shoots “goodbye Batman” says Freeze. .. To be continued.

smallville-019-02Why… Did they bring back Chris Cross… I was much more happy with the work of Igle. Anyway, this is a nice way to continue the story and show elements that make Batman cool (excuse the pun). I think it was a smart choice to use Mr. Freeze as one of the villains that would show up with Batman. He’s one of the more technologically advanced bad guys that he goes up against.

Now I’ve said this before, but I’m not entirely a huge fan of DC. I have tidbits of info, but I’m not as knowledgeable as I am with Marvel, but if I’m right then “Prankster” is a “Flash” villain. So maybe this heads to that in the coming issues.

I just hope Cross’ stay is short lived. Outside of the above kryptonite sick Superman up there, he’s a terrible artist. Maybe it’s just me, but I’d love to see Cat Staggs do some interior work for the book. She does such nice painting, it may rival the work of Alex Ross.

Smallville Season 11 #21

SV-21-01 SV-21-02A potentially deadly police chase ensues as Superman is clinging to life at batman drives his batmobile towards his Metropolis hideout. As time is ticking for the recent shot “Last Son of Krypton” , Clark tells Batman his real identity. Batman gets Nightwing to make a conference call to Lois who then informs Bats on what to do. To give him some help green arrow hijacks a police helicopter, bats then does what Lois instructed. He saves the day. Elsewhere Loomis shares with Mr. Freeze he knows the whereabouts of the world’s finest heroes….. To be continued.

For some reason Chris Cross is back. And I honestly don’t know why. The first few pages are so pointless its crazy. Then you fast forward to some actual batmobile tumbling and you have to say… This would only happen in a movie, not on that CW budget that the show had.

Mr. Miller may have lost some points this issue. He wrote Lois as someone to buckle under pressure. She basically gave up that she knew who Superman actually was, and I get that the love may be more important but……. HELLO. YOU CANT JUST BE LETTING OUT THE MANS SECRETS. Then you have Clark who just gives out his secret like Batman asked. With Batman in the show now, Green Arrow is becoming less and less needed.

For your viewing pleasure, one hell of a beautiful trailer.

SPOILER – Iron Man 3 Confirmed to Include Iron Patriot!

Captain America’s shield.

First look at “the Mandarin”

did anyone else notice this in the trailer? >>>>

(22.10.12) Iron Man gets a teaser poster

Here’s the synopsis:

Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

If you want you want to know more, then by all means continue reading.

Various sites have confirmed reports that one of the villains will be in fact a recently used character from the Marvel mainstream comics, ‘Iron Patriot’.

The armor made its first appearance in 2009’s “Dark Avengers” #1. Following the events of the “Secret Invasion” crossover, Norman Osborn was mistakenly heralded as an American hero and tasked with leading a group of government-sanctioned Avengers. Taking the technology from Stark Industries, Osborn designed his suit to represent the then-recently-deceased, Captain America.

Due to Spider-Man being owned by Sony (movie rights), the man behind the mask won’t be William Dafoe or anyone named Norman Osborn, but actor James Badge Dale (The Grey, Shame), who recently joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3.

“Dale will play Eric Savin. In the Marvel comicbooks, he’s a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army put in charge of Project: Ultra. After stepping on a land mine, cybernetic surgery is performed on him and he’s resurrected as the cyborg Coldblood.” – Variety

Also noted by ‘Variety’, is that this movie will feature more elements from the ‘Extremis’ story line (comic book), which the first movie took ideas from as well. Though to my personal understanding, the only thing that was based off that story was the design of the suit for the movie.

The two differences is the man behind the mask and the colour scheme.

Lobo’s Christmas Special

A few years back there was a rumour Guy Ritche was to direct a Lobo movie. One way or another it fell through and there’s been more news about a Lobo movie being made… but until we have some ACTUAL facts like a release date or something, I bring you this:

The Great Gatsby Trailer

Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, Carey Mulligan, Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke, Elizabeth Debicki and Amitabh Bachchan, The Great Gatsby arrives in 2D and 3D theaters on Christmas Day.

The Great Gatsby follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer, Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan. It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.

Look for a review for this movie, from me, before years end!
